I’m busy dusting off the ipod and getting some new playlists together for a brand new year and a new term starting 10th January. All classes start next Monday apart from Zumba in Borve which will start the Wed after!

Just a quick note about events on this week.
On Thursday 21st October we have a massive Zumba fundraiser with a Halloween twist. The Zumbathon is raising funds for our cheerleading squad to buy new uniforms. It wll be a 2 hour fitness and dance extravaganza!
6 – 8PM @ the Legion
On FRiday 22nd October the cheerleaders have organised a ceilidh to raise more money – there will be choirs, music, dancing and lots of other fun stuff. Its on at the Legion from 7.30 – 10.30! £2.50 / £4
On SATURDAY 23rd October a small number of community dancers and cheerleaders will be helping break the world record for largest Thriler dance ever, but taking to the streets of Stornoway and performing MJ’s Thriller dressed as Zombies! Come along and show them some love!

HI Isle DAncers,
I’m currently in Glasgow on second week of rehearsals (BOOTCAMP!) in preparation for the Delhi Commonwealth Games handover ceremony to Glasgow. We’ve been working really hard, though its a long process. Learning some fun new ways to warm up and a few new conditioning moves (cheerleaders watch out).
Missing all my classes – from the tiny wee babies to my marvellous mature movers and all cheerleaders, Zumbaettes and dancey peeps in between. Trying also to take in as many other dance classes as poss whilst down here, but rehearsal schedule making it difficult.
Anyway, everything we do here is TOP TOP SECRET so can’t say much more than that – you’ll just need to tune in on the TV and keep your eyes peeled.
NWA and TTW classes ongoing – not too late to join in on Thrill the World.

New term of Isle Dance classes for young and old(er) starts Monday 23rd. It will be a 4 week term and there are quite a few new (and new ish) classes that we’re piloting so if interested please book up asap so that i know if they can go ahead. If numbers are too low we may have to cancel some classes! If you’re interested but can’t make the times / dates shown please get in touch and let me know when would suit you so that I can incorporate this into future plans!

A massive thank you to all the community dancers who took part in our Flash dance mob at the weekend. It was so much and i think it looked amazing, thanks to you all. You all did so well coming to rehearsals, learning the steps and being brave enough to stand on South Beach and dance in front of all those people. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Junior NWA team took home 10 trophies at the weekend, including 2nd place in Youth Cheer!!!! The girls did amazingly well, danced their socks off, hit all their stunts and looked and acted the part all day. I was so proud of them for their hard work, brilliant performance and friendly attitudes. They’re all raring to go for the next competition now.
We’re looking for brand new squad members to join all of our squads – we will now be running a Tiny Squad (9 and under), Youth Squad ( 12 and under), Junior Squad (14 and under) and Senior Squad (15+) so any cheerleaders wanting to join up and come help us pick up some more trophies are more than welcome. We’ll be starting our new season’s routines in August so it’s the perfect time to join. PLease get in touch with kirstie.anderson @gmail.com if you’re interested.
Also don’t forget the second cheer and dance summer school taking place 26th July – 30th July this year – perfect chance to hone your skills!
So sorry about last night’s Zumba being cancelled. everything back to normal now. it was due to being stuck on mainland due to flight’s – last night’s ferry didn’t get me in on time.
Anyway, hoped not too many people turned up!
